This site was built with the assistance of AI tools at several stages of development.

The Novel

New Freedom City is written by Todd Dukart. The prose is entirely human-authored. Characters, locations, and the plot were created by the author and fleshed out with limited AI assistance. Final decisions were made by the author.

The author considers the AI assistance as, essentially, a sounding board.

Research and Development

AI tools may be used for research support — looking up historical context, exploring factual questions, or stress-testing worldbuilding details. Any such use is limited to informational assistance, not creative generation.

This Website

Code

The site is a Gatsby application. Its code was written with assistance from Claude Code (Anthropic), an AI-powered coding assistant. Claude Code helped with component structure, styling, and implementation. All code was reviewed and directed by the author.

Artwork

The key art on the homepage was created by hand and incorporates elements generated with Adobe Firefly. Adobe Firefly is trained exclusively on images that are licensed for AI use, including Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content, and public-domain content. The final artwork reflects human creative direction and manual composition.

Design

The visual design — the color palette, typography choices, aesthetic direction, and layout — was developed collaboratively with AI assistance. Final decisions and creative direction were made by the author.

Commitment

The author believes that transparency about AI use is a matter of basic honesty with readers and collaborators. This page will be updated if that use changes in any meaningful way.
